How Unisys Uses Visier to Connect People and Business Data
Unisys navigated organizational changes and turnover by leveraging Visier to address these challenges effectively. Recognizing that employee-related costs are significant, Unisys utilized Visier to analyze people data and gain precise insights into attrition.
Unisys has used Visier for over five years, gaining valuable insights into areas such as technician performance and sales effectiveness by analyzing people data. Currently, they are experimenting with linking data from Salesforce and ServiceNow alongside their workforce data to explore how these combined insights might reveal the impact on business outcomes. By shifting people analytics from HR to IT, Unisys has encouraged deeper collaboration and enabled real-time, self-service insights by integrating multiple business data sources, helping to optimize costs and drive meaningful business results.

With Visier People® Extend, Unisys:

Connected workforce and business data

Analyzed attrition drivers to reduce the financial drain of frequent backfilling and turnover

Used ServiceNow and Salesforce data to identify business performance trends
THE CHALLENGE
Managing workforce efficiency amidst business changes
Unisys had multiple transformation projects lined up that made managing their workforce more complicated. Workforce costs made up 85-90% of global management costs. Plus, they needed to manage productivity, deploy people, control attrition, and really manage it all at the same time.
The company experienced revenue challenges due to turnover, a widespread issue during the pandemic that affected many technology organizations during the Great Resignation. This situation prompted them to seek a people-first, business-process agnostic solution designed to support their workforce and enable scalable growth for the future.
THE SOLUTION
A tool to take them from workforce metrics to business impact
When Unisys started using Visier in 2020, they were focused on workforce metrics. With Visier Extend, all of the data in the system allows them to drill down by a person, business unit, or location. Unisys can now get a better understanding, for instance, of which locations are profitable.
This also helps them navigate market volatility. Visier comes in to manage costs, compare average cost-of-living by location, understand what skillsets are needed, and more. That data-driven approach means Unisys can now react based on data to constantly improve its performance.
THE OUTCOME
Self-service analytics for strategic decisions
With Visier, Unisys can now analyze current data from ServiceNow to find and rank its top-performing technicians by region, optimizing their time and resources in their busiest locations and saving the business money.
Unisys is currently planning to leverage the Visier-Salesforce integration to explore the relationship between tenure and performance for sales teams. This initiative is in the experimental phase as they evaluate how combining Salesforce data with people analytics can provide deeper insights. Transitioning from HR to IT has opened up access to data and allowed collaboration throughout the business. The team plans to add additional data sources to achieve a complete picture of productivity and financial impact.dig deeper into the relationship between tenure and performance for sales teams. "Using Extend, we're leveraging Salesforce and ServiceNow data to see how it impacts our business and if we can have some recovery or savings within the business. We are experimenting with one of our business units, and that's going very well so far. We see huge potential for savings through that solution."
