In "one of the quickest technology implementations" Kevin Liang, director of people analytics at TELUS says he's experienced, the team at TELUS stood up Visier in just eight weeks (compared to "a SAP implementation that took upwards of seven years"), and had a use case rolled out in three weeks. Because they already had established a smooth reporting system via the CHRO to the C-suite, they could plug the real-time insights from Visier into the process so that she now "had the live data on hand," says Kevin, "and I could sift through that live with her during those meetings—that was pretty impressive to her."
THE CHALLENGE
Understanding employee experience to reduce turnover & retain talent
In 2019 Kevin Liang, started a new job as a people analytics director at TELUS. But there was one catch to directing the people analytics—they had yet to stand up a PA solution despite attempting to build one internally for over eight months. Kevin, not satisfied with the estimated additional year to build one looked instead to the market to explore external solutions and that's when he found Visier.
A contracted labor market and increasing rates of turnover demanded better insights into the existing employee population at TELUS—Kevin knew that understanding and optimizing the employee experience couldn't wait and was key to retaining and promoting from within—and that was only possible with insights provided by people analytics—and then putting them into the hands of those made the everyday decisions about talent.

Enabling business users with data and visuals for optimal decision-making
In an effort to enable users outside of HR with people data for better decision-making, Kevin's team needed to provide access to the insights as well as context and visuals for easy interpretation.
"I think Visier's storyboarding and the way you can prompt how people interpret a graph was super powerful for us," Kevin explains. "We're able to put in guardrails around how people utilize people data, and that was super valuable as well."
